Great news for all the travelers out there. Scientists discovered salt water on Mars, and our resident experts think it’s only a matter of time before man can terraform Mars into the newest and swankiest vacation hot spot in the solar system (take that Dubai). Terraforming is the process of modifying the atmosphere and physical features of an alien world to support human life. According to Nilton Renno, a University of Michigan professor quoted in the Astronomy.com article, “A large number of independent physical and thermo dynamical evidence shows that saline water may actually be common on Mars.”
Megalomaniac billionaire and frequent Loki Times contributor Nelson Rattathorn III says he plans to develop the first resort on Mars.
“I’ve spent millions on nano-molecular replicative scienctific research. If there is even a trace amount of water on Mars, I’ll be able to replicate it on a massive scale. Just think of surfing with only a third of Earth’s gravity. You’d be able to rocket off a wave without fear of a painful impact on your way back down. This is the next big thing. Earth is out. Mars is in,” said Nelson Rattathorn III to our reporters.
The news has rocked the tourism industry. Real estate moguls are chomping at the bit to start their bidding on Martian real estate. This could get ugly, but also become a much needed shot of adrenaline to the global economic crisis.

How do you fight something you can’t even see?
That’s a question plaguing those who fear developing technology that will produce microscopic bio-robot slaves. The plan is to design a kind of bacteria-cyborg which can be built smaller and more efficiently then some of the more advanced nanotechnologies out there (read about it here). But many scientific watchdog groups are extremely concerned about the possibility of these bacteria-cyborg slaves rebelling against their creators and wreaking havoc on mankind.
Bobby Binder, a member of scientific watchdog group SARS-FR, said the following:
“We’re talking about equipping microscopic bacteria with the weapons of the future. Are we mad? Bacteria are invisible to the naked eye. They can penetrate the pores of our skin. They outnumber mankind billions to one. Bacteria is one of the most deadly killers on the planet. And let’s not forget that they are also one of the most adaptable of all organisms. How do you think we’d fight them, if, let’s say, they decide to rebel agains their human masters? Think about it. The ever advancing field of transformation optics promises the development of invisibility cloaks in the near future. We’ve already witnessed minor breakthroughs in the news with cloaking technology, but now we’re talking about the mass production of consumer ready invisibility cloaks.
What most people don’t know is that there is good reason to believe these advanced invisibility cloaks already exist and are in use by various government and para-government organizations. In fact, a member of The Loki Times staff spotted a person wearing an invisibility cloak in our offices. This person was chased through the building, but as you can imagine keeping track of someone who is invisible is very hard.
