Nanotubes = Robot Steroids

A scientists have developed a new material that could provide robots with super strong artificial muscles. Read more here.
Great, super strong robots. That’s just what we need as we battle an economic crisis. How is a human, with normal human strength, supposed to compete with that?

NASA UFO Cover Up Lawsuit Imminent

Remember these images of the Glasser UFO Event of 1930?
They could be lost forever if NASA has its way. According to a report from OhMyGov.com, the International UFO Congress is planning on suing NASA for allegedly destroying photographic evidence of unidentified flying objects and evidence they have of life on other planets. According to the UFO Activists who’d back the suit, part of NASA’s mission is to “look for signs of life in other planetary systems”, and since NASA is funded by tax payers, any effort to destroy evidence of alien life would amount to fraud and waste of tax payer money.
The secretive organization, UFOR.a.YOU (UFO’s Right Above You) responded to our inquiries with the usual cryptic response: “UFOR.a.YOU is not answering any questions regarding the alleged NASA cover up at this time.” – Sincerely, UFOR.a.YOU Public Information Officer #98465″
NASA denies any cover up, even in the face of recent whistle blowing by former astronaut and American hero Dr. Edgar Mitchell. Listen to Dr. Mitchell’s claims:
Jetpacks: Here Now, and as Cool as we Dreamed
Filed under: Science, Science Fiction, Technology, The Future
Thanks to Cristina at Ninjatronics for forwarding us this link to one of the coolest things ever. I mean, how can you not be cool with one of these water powered jet packs strapped on your back? Look at these people soar. “Weeeeeeeeeeee!!!!”
The Rocketeer’s got nothing on this. Forget the fact you can only go 30 feet high or travel 25 mph. Soon, we’ll be able to cut the umbilical cord tethering us to the water and soar like birds, and be really really cool.
Brillianty Stupid Artificial Intelligence
Filed under: Artificial Intelligence, Cyborgs, Robots, Science, Science Fiction, Technology, The Future
A recent article at the Gamasutra site highlights the need for artificial intelligence to be slightly stupid in order to accurately mimic human behavior and thought processes.
Besides being offensive to us, humans, this article illustrates what could become a disturbing trend in AI programming. Think of it this way – what’s more dangerous than a precision oriented artificially intelligent robot killer like The Terminator? We’ll tell you what – a STUPID Terminator. The reasons are pretty obvious. Artificial intelligence in the hands of a machine, computer, or robot can be a very powerful weapon and tool. Do we really want something that’s slightly stupid in control of that power?
Mars Vacation: Sit Back, Relax, and Enjoy the Water
Filed under: Alien Intelligence, Astronomy, Conspiracies, Discoveries, Mars, Nanotechnology, Science, Science Fiction, Technology, The Future
Great news for all the travelers out there. Scientists discovered salt water on Mars, and our resident experts think it’s only a matter of time before man can terraform Mars into the newest and swankiest vacation hot spot in the solar system (take that Dubai). You can read about the discovery here at Astronomy.com.
Terraforming is the process of modifying the atmosphere and physical features of an alien world to support human life. According to Nilton Renno, a University of Michigan professor quoted in the Astronomy.com article, “A large number of independent physical and thermo dynamical evidence shows that saline water may actually be common on Mars.”
Megalomaniac billionaire and frequent Loki Times contributor Nelson Rattathorn III says he plans to develop the first resort on Mars.
“I’ve spent millions on nano-molecular replicative scienctific research. If there is even a trace amount of water on Mars, I’ll be able to replicate it on a massive scale. Just think of surfing with only a third of Earth’s gravity. You’d be able to rocket off a wave without fear of a painful impact on your way back down. This is the next big thing. Earth is out. Mars is in,” said Nelson Rattathorn III to our reporters.
The news has rocked the tourism industry. Real estate moguls are chomping at the bit to start their bidding on Martian real estate. This could get ugly, but also become a much needed shot of adrenaline to the global economic crisis.
What would you do on a vacation to Mars?
