Economic Recession = Jobs For Robots
Filed under: Artificial Intelligence, Robot Psychology, Robots, Technology, The Future
Could the recession accelerate the inevitable rise of the machines? Robots with primitive forms of intelligence are spreading like wild fire, and the current global economic crisis is feeding the flames. Since we can harness these robots as slaves to do our dirty work for a fraction of the cost of human workers, it makes since that this economical option is so appealing to employers. But are the benefits worth the risk to mankind?
Futurologists suspect these machine workers taking crappy jobs will become disgruntled just like their human counterparts. This sense of dissatisfaction could be a catalyst for a robot rebellion.
This post at WIRED Science highlights the rise of robot warehouse workers that is already underway. Watch the video below to see them in action. It might not be long before we’re working for the machines, rather than them working for us.
